Investing in the future of health in Mackay

The Australian Government is planning for Mackay’s future health workforce needs with an investment of $1.1 million for construction and fit-out of a new clinical training facility at Mater Misericordiae Hospital. In Mackay, the Prime Minister announced that the funding will be provided to James Cook University and will allow for approximately 98 additional placements for medicine, nursing and midwifery, pharmacy and physiotherapy students.

First Year Apprentice Chef Appointed at MFS

Jake Riley, has been appointed as a first year apprentice chef at Mercy Food Service. Mercy Food Service has been operating for about 13 years now and supplies food to the Rockhampton Mater Hospital, Emu Park RSL, Leinster Place, Bethany Nursing Home and Hostel, Mackay Mater Hospital, Bundaberg Mater Hospital and Gladstone Mater Hospital.

New Plastics Surgeon for Rockhampton

Doctor Elamurugan Arumugan is a plastics surgeon who has emigrated to Queensland from the United Kingdom. Dr Arumugam who likes to be known as Dr Aru is a plastics surgeon who is a Fellow of Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Plastics and Reconstructive surgery. He is also a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Endinburgh in the United Kingdom. Dr Aru is working at the Mater Hospital Rockhampton Thursday and Fridays each week. He can be contacted by calling the outpatients department at the Mater hospital. Dr Arus special interest areas are skin cancer surgery, hand surgery, general plastics surgery and breast reduction and augmentation surgery.
